One Week to Go: The UK Corporate Games Leeds 2024

The largest multi-sport festival for businesses, The UK Corporate Games will kick off in Leeds on 25 July. This highly anticipated event, which runs to 28 July, is set to welcome hundreds of businesses from across the country for a weekend packed with sports, celebrations, and unparalleled networking opportunities.

The UK Corporate Games is renowned for promoting employee wellbeing, fostering networking, enhancing brand visibility, and building team spirit. This year’s event features up to 20 different sports, from Dragon Boat Racing to Netball and Padel to Poker.

Beyond the sports, the UK Corporate Games is also a weekend of camaraderie. The Games Welcome Festival (Friday 26th July), hosted by the popular sports broadcaster Tanya Arnold, will set the stage for an unforgettable weekend. The festival will take place at Leeds University Union and feature live music, a Grand Parade of Athletes, and a vibrant SuperCentre Registration. Participants and attendees can indulge in a variety of street foods and enjoy live performances.

Adding to the prestige of the event, the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Abigail Marshall Katung, will deliver a special welcome at the festival, highlighting the city’s pride in hosting such a significant gathering.

Places for People

The UK Corporate Games is hosted in partnership with the Leeds City Council and the University of Leeds. The event is expected to generate more than £2m for the local economy and will also showcase Leeds to visiting business representatives as an attractive location if their organisation is considering a relocation or expansion. The Games is also supported by notable sponsors such as Reed Smith LLP, Sports Hub Group, Hatch, Myzone, Conference Leeds, and Worldwide Golf Brands and charity partner the Brownlee Foundation.

The Games will be held at several prestigious venues across Leeds, including Leeds Dock, John Charles Centre for Sport, Moor Allerton Golf Club, Brownlee Centre, Carnegie Sports Centre, Grosvenor Casino, and more. These venues offer state-of-the-art facilities that will enhance the experience for participants and spectators alike.

Councillor James Lewis, leader of Leeds City Council, said: “Anticipation has been building for the UK Corporate Games ever since the city was announced as this year’s host, with the large contingent of Leeds-based businesses taking part underlining just how warmly the event has been embraced by the local community.

“With one week to go until the action begins, we’re looking forward to laying on a typically warm Leeds welcome for all the athletes, spectators and organisers attending.

“The Games will not only showcase our city’s strengths as a sporting, business and events heavyweight, they will also create plenty of magical memories for everyone involved.”

The event is supported by rail operator LNER, headline sponsor and travel partner. LNER’s support has been instrumental in bringing this event to Leeds and ensuring a memorable experience for all participants.

David Flesher, Commercial Director at LNER, said:

We are proud to play our part as Leeds prepares to welcome teams from around the UK and further afield. The communities, towns and cities on our route are important to us and we recognise the economic significance of events like this for the area. Our regular daily LNER services between Leeds and London King’s Cross keep the city connected and make the train the ideal way to come and enjoy the Games or explore this vibrant city and the wider area.

Participants in the UK Corporate Games will enjoy numerous benefits, including improved employee morale, enhanced team cohesion, and valuable networking opportunities. The event provides a unique platform for businesses to showcase their brand and engage with a broad audience in a dynamic and positive setting.
