Leeds Shines as Hosts of the UK Corporate Games 2024
The UK Corporate Games 2024, hosted in partnership with Leeds City Council and the University of Leeds, successfully brought together over 70 organisations from across the country for an unforgettable weekend of sport and camaraderie. The event, held across the vibrant city of Leeds, saw participants competing in 20 different sports, including football, padel, cycling, running, and dragon boat racing.
This year’s games featured events at some of Leeds’ premier sporting venues, such as the Brownlee Centre, Leeds Beckett Carnegie Centre, Leeds Dock, Leeds Trinity University, Bodington Football Hub, Moor Allerton Golf Club, Leeds Golf Centre and the John Charles Centre for Sport. The variety of locations underscored Leeds’ commitment to promoting diverse sporting opportunities and showcased the city’s top-tier facilities.

Hosting the UK Corporate Games 2024 was a testament to the University’s ability to come together as one. From our Conferences and Events team to our Sports and Physical Activity colleagues, Catering teams, Health and Wellbeing and many others, we demonstrated how effective collaboration can lead to the successful delivery of such a large-scale event. It was truly a University-wide effort and we’re immensely proud of the result.
Notable Highlights over the weekend included:
– University of Leeds showcased their community’s strength, with over 170 participants representing the university across various events.
– LNER, headline sponsor, demonstrated their competitive spirit with strong showings in golf, netball, karting, and football.
– Padel made its exciting debut this year, attracting 40 enthusiastic participants at the Chapel Allerton Lawn Tennis Club, highlighting the sport’s growing popularity.
– Leeds City Council celebrated a significant victory, clinching the women’s netball competition.
– Barclays emerged as the dominant force, topping the medal table with an impressive haul of 59 medals, setting a high bar for competition.
– Welcomed companies competing in the UK Corporate Games for the first time including: Burberry, Clarion Solicitors, Blacks Solicitors, Compare the Market, Nexus, Linesight, AVEVA, Fensa, Aker Solutions, Jacobs, Ward Hadaway and more.
The UK Corporate Games is expected to have generated more than £2m for the local economy and showcased Leeds to visiting business representatives as an attractive location if their organisation is considering a relocation or expansion.
